Our Commitment to Anti-Spam

MailSequence takes a zero-tolerance approach to spam. We built our platform to help legitimate businesses conduct personalized, permission-based email outreach—not to facilitate mass unsolicited emails.

We comply with CAN-SPAM Act, GDPR, CASL, and other international email regulations. We expect all users to do the same.

What is Spam?

Spam is any unsolicited commercial email sent to recipients who have not given explicit permission to receive communications from you. This includes:

  • Emails sent to purchased, rented, or scraped email lists
  • Emails sent without a legitimate prior business relationship or consent
  • Emails that do not include a clear unsubscribe mechanism
  • Emails with deceptive subject lines or sender information
  • Emails that continue after a recipient has opted out

Prohibited Practices

The following practices are strictly prohibited on MailSequence:

List Acquisition

  • Purchasing or renting email lists
  • Scraping emails from websites, directories, or social media
  • Using email lists without verifiable consent
  • Sharing or selling email lists obtained through MailSequence

Content & Sending

  • Sending emails without a working unsubscribe link
  • Using misleading subject lines or sender information
  • Concealing the commercial nature of emails
  • Continuing to email after an opt-out request
  • Sending malicious content (malware, phishing, fraud)

Technical Violations

  • Forging email headers or sender information
  • Attempting to bypass spam filters through deceptive techniques
  • Using multiple accounts to evade enforcement actions

Required Practices

To use MailSequence, you must:

Permission & Consent

  • Only email people who have given explicit permission or with whom you have a legitimate business relationship
  • Maintain documentation of consent for your email lists
  • Respect opt-out requests within 10 business days (as required by CAN-SPAM)

Email Content

  • Include a clear, functioning unsubscribe link in every email
  • Use accurate sender information (name, reply-to address)
  • Use honest, non-deceptive subject lines
  • Include your physical business address
  • Clearly identify your emails as advertisements (if applicable)

Best Practices

  • Personalize emails based on genuine research or relationship
  • Keep emails relevant to the recipient's interests
  • Respect bounce and complaint rates to maintain sender reputation
  • Use email verification to remove invalid addresses

Enforcement

We actively monitor accounts for spam-like behavior, including high bounce rates, complaint rates, and content patterns. If we detect violations:

First Offense

We may issue a warning and require corrective action within 48 hours.

Serious Violations

For serious or repeated violations, we will immediately suspend your account, investigate, and may terminate your account without refund.

Reputation Damage

If your activity damages our sending infrastructure or reputation, you may be held liable for costs incurred to restore deliverability.

Reporting Abuse

If you receive spam sent through MailSequence or believe a MailSequence user is violating this policy, please report it:

  • Email: abuse@mailsequence.com
  • Include: Full email headers, sender information, and date/time received

We investigate all abuse reports promptly and take appropriate action.
